Each hour

What happens in each part

  • A school cafeteria set with round tables and a snack cart for after-school care

    Arrival and snack

Children hang up their backpacks at the cubbies, wash their hands and sit down to a simple snack and water.

  • A room with wooden homework tables, pencils and notebooks, and bookshelves behind

    Homework hour

A staff member sits at the tables, answers questions and makes sure each child has started. What is finished is the child's, and you will see it at home.

  • A craft table with markers, paint trays and blank paper in daylight

    Activity

A gym game, the art table, the science table or a reading circle, planned for the day. On Friday children choose.

  • A child running toward a grandparent at the after-school door, with a staff member nearby

    Pickup window

Free play at the front room while adults arrive, sign the sheet and say goodbye. Staff stay until the last child has gone.
