After-school care in Hamilton, New Jersey

Snack, homework, play, then home

A licensed after-school program in a converted storefront near two elementary schools, for children in kindergarten through grade 5. The afternoon follows the same four parts every day, so a child always knows what comes next.

  • Kindergarten to grade 5
  • School days until 6:30 p.m.
  • Summer camp weeks

The afternoon

From the last bell to pickup

Every school day has the same four parts, in the same order, so a child always knows what comes next. Only the activity changes.

Pickup

Every child is signed in, and signed out

A staff member greets each child at the door and signs them in. At pickup a child leaves only with an adult on your list, and we ask for photo ID from anyone we haven't met. The adult signs the sheet at the front table, with the time.

  • Your list of authorized adults stays at the front table

  • Photo ID from anyone we haven't met yet

  • A call from us if the plan for the day changes

Safety routines

  • Sign-in and pickup

A staff member signs each child in at the door. At pickup the child goes only with an adult on your list, and we ask for ID from anyone we haven't met.

  • Allergies and medicine

Tell us about allergies when you tour; we ask privately once you enroll. Medicine is given only with your written permission, by a staff member trained to give it.

  • When a child is ill

A child with a fever or a contagious illness stays home. If a child becomes ill here, we call the first person on your list and a staff member stays close until you arrive.

  • Headcounts and drills

We count heads every time children move between the homework tables, the activity room and the door, and we practice fire drills with the children.

  • Outdoors and weather

On dry days part of the activity hour goes outside with staff. When it is wet, very cold or very hot, the activity moves indoors.

  • Sun, water and heat in summer

Summer weeks bring shade, water breaks, hats and sunscreen from home. Tell us at registration what your child needs, and the day moves indoors when it is too hot.

  • “He walks in, hangs up his backpack and knows what comes next. The sign-out sheet and the call when plans change are the small things that earned our trust.”

    Keisha B.
  • “Homework hour is quiet and a staff member sits down with the children. We still look it over at night, but the afternoon rush is gone.”

    Luis A.
  • “Bernell asked my mother for ID the first week, and she liked that. Pickup is calm, and everyone on the list is known by name.”
